<6 Months Post-Surgery Photos>
Hello! I had double jaw surgery and two types of facial contouring (jaw reduction + chin reshaping) at WHY Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in February this year. I'm writing this review to share my experience 3 and 6 months after the surgery, hoping it will be helpful to others:)

<Before Surgery>
Since I could only see myself in the mirror, I didn’t think my appearance was that severe when looking straight on. However, starting in middle school, the boys began teasing me about it. When I turned 20, I was told that braces could correct my bite, so I went through two years of orthodontic treatment. Although my bite was initially corrected, it started to shift again, with my front teeth not touching and my molars misaligned on both sides. I thought I had moved past the hurtful comments from my childhood, but they resurfaced, making me angry and determined not to live as someone who shrinks away whenever appearance is mentioned. That's when I decided to go through with the surgery.

It’s been three months since my double jaw surgery, and I can finally drink alcohol again! I’m so emotional about it. As for eating, I can now enjoy meat as long as I chew it slowly and thoroughly—I'm pretty much able to eat anything. Surprisingly, thin leafy vegetables are still difficult to chew because they’re so delicate, but aside from that, I’m free to eat whatever I want. The swelling on my face has also gone down to the point where it’s just about the same as if I had my wisdom teeth removed.

I still have a bit of swelling around my philtrum, the sides of my nose, and under my chin. People who knew me before can tell there's still some swelling, but those who meet me for the first time just think I have a naturally cute face. The doctor recommended working out to help reduce the swelling, so I’ve been working out every day. Thanks to that, my body has also improved, and now I can wear all the clothes I’ve always wanted to. My proportions have changed, and clothes look so much better on me now! In the first month, I wondered why I even went through with the surgery, but now I’m just wondering why I didn’t do it sooner! 😂

The sagging skin that made me look like a bulldog at the beginning has almost disappeared. This was my first bone surgery, so I was really worried about loose skin, but luckily, it's tightening back up nicely! 😊 I can't wait for the remaining swelling to go down so I can look even better!
Since the surgery, I've also changed my makeup routine a bit and started taking more time to take care of myself, which has really boosted my self-esteem and confidence. If you're struggling with malocclusion like I was, I think you'll be really satisfied with this surgery!

<6-Month Post-Surgery Photo & update>
It’s now been 6 months since my surgery, and the swelling has almost completely subsided, leaving my face looking very natural. I thought all the swelling had gone down at the 3-month mark, but when I compare photos from then to now, I can see a noticeable difference! It’s amazing how swelling works—just when I thought it was all gone, I look back at old photos and realize how much more my face has changed. 😂
If I had to pick something that's still a bit inconvenient, it would be the braces.

The braces are still uncomfortable, and it still hurts when my cheek gets caught in them, but overall, I’m very satisfied with how everything looks! Haha. As I’m getting used to it, the frequency of it happening seems to be decreasing.
With it being summer, I’ve been traveling recently and capturing some great shots. I'm really enjoying the satisfaction and confidence I feel in photos, something I didn’t quite experience before the surgery! Haha.

I haven’t had any dermatological treatments, but the sagging jowls have almost disappeared, haha. And a friend I’ve known since three months after my jaw surgery didn’t realize I’d had surgery, but kept saying my face looked smaller as I kept losing weight, haha. Anyway, I’m satisfied in many ways!
