์ง„๋ฃŒ๊ณผ๋ชฉ Double-jaw surgery
์ œ๋ชฉ Thank you Dr. Lee !๐Ÿ˜˜ Why Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

<Reason for surgery>
When I was young, I had rhinitis and had a habit of sleeping with my mouth open, but from then on, my chin started to get worse!

So, every time I went to the dentist, I started to feel confused after hearing the doctor tell me that I should have double jaw surgery as an adult.

Not only is it a very major surgery, but it also has many risk factors and costs a lot of money, so I wonder if I really need to do it.

My friends around me said that it would be okay without surgery, so I was living my life just fine.

I happened to come across a YouTube video about double jaw surgery reviews and before and after differences, and I thought about going for a consultation.

While searching for a good place, I came across WHY Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and I liked the fact that it was an oral and maxillofacial surgery specializing in double jaw, not plastic surgery!

After meeting with the director and receiving a consultation, I was glad that he explained in detail how the surgery would proceed and what the complex was.

When I met with Dr. Seok-jae Lee for consultation, he did not recommend unnecessary surgery and was very honest in telling me which areas would be improved and how.

I think my simple and chic tone of voice and personality gave me more trust.

Also, there was an orthodontic specialist, so I completed 6 months of Invisalign treatment and planned to undergo double jaw surgery, square jaw, and 3 types of front chin and cheek contour surgery with SSRO, followed by 6 months of orthodontic treatment!

Before surgery-

After fitting the wafer, taking an X-ray, electrocardiogram, blood test, etc., various tests were completed.

I received instructions to follow before surgery! Fasting for 8 hours before surgery, no multivitamins for 2 weeks, etc.

Factors that could interfere with the surgery were written down, so I followed the instructions carefully and prepared myself mentally by looking up double jaw surgery vlogs and review videos on YouTube. haha

On the day of surgery (3/7)

Since my first surgery was at 10 a.m., I came to the hospital about 10 minutes early and changed into hospital clothes in the hospital room.

I went into the operating room with a trembling heart, thinkingโ€ฆ everything will be fine!

As I lay down on the operating table, they put a mask on me and told me to take a deep breath.

When I came to, I was lying on a bed in a hospital room with several hoses stuck in my mouth.

It was around 3 o'clock, and my mom next to me kept waking me up because they told me I couldn't sleep until 9 o'clock, and I tried to stay awake by watching YouTube and Netflix on my laptop.

Day 2 (3/8)

I removed the urine line in the morning. It hurt a little, but I think it got a little easier after removing the blood bag and other hoses.

Still, it's still uncomfortable I'm dizzy, hungry, thirsty, still having trouble breathing, and my nose is stuffy.

I was worried that my face would get more swollen. Then, after getting a laser treatment to reduce swelling, I was so tired that I dozed off.

I slept similarly to the first day, but my nose was more clogged than the first day, so I had no choice but to spray Otrivin, which relieves nasal congestion, twice more at night.

Day 3 (3/9)

It's discharge day!

I had all the IVs taken out and had another laser treatment for swelling in the morning.

After seeing the director for the last time, I was prescribed medication from a pharmacy and was discharged! I arrived home in my dadโ€™s car and ate New Care.

I took the pills three times a day, morning, lunch and evening. I also gave them hot packs and cold compresses and it was so uncomfortable that I ended up taking a nap!

Day 4 (3/10)

My nose was still so stuffy that I had to spray Otrivin about 2 or 3 times a day, but it was starting to get better.

And on this day, I took a leisurely walk around the neighborhood with my mom for about 30 minutes! The weather was nice so it was worth walking around, but it was too much.

I felt a little dizzy, my face was swollen and my mouth was the same, but I thought time would tell. At this time, taking the medicine was the most painful.

It was hard to open my mouth, but taking multiple pills made me think of something delicious and wanted to eat it.

Day 5 (3/11)

My nose got a lot better, but I suddenly got a fever around lunch time. Is it because I didn't eat too much and my immunity is low?

I felt like I was going to die because I only ate the liquid, but my mom changed the beef porridge and I thought I would live just by eating that.. haha.

After eating and sleeping for a while, I didn't have a fever. I heard that the swelling will gradually go down starting today, so I thought it would be nice if the swelling in the hamster's cheeks, which looked like it had bitten two candies, went down quickly.

I couldn't go for a walk because I was dizzy and tired, and I was just so hungry.

Day 6 (3/12)

It was swollen when I woke up in the morning, but the swelling gradually subsided as the evening went on. It was still very difficult to take the medicine.

At this time, I had only sprayed Otrivin once. The stuffy nose seemed to be slowly going away. I tried to go outside, but I was so dizzy that I felt like I was going to pass out, so I gave up.

Yes, I still have to recover.. But everyone said it was a one-week miracle, and it seemed like they were right. If I could endure the hardships up to this point, it was worth it!

Day 7 (3/13)

I sprayed Otrivin on this day too, but sometimes it's hard to hold back when it gets clogged.

After a week, my condition improved noticeably. It was natural for me to feel swollen when I woke up in the morning, but I was proud that I finished cleaning my room and studying that day.

But since I ate some porridge for lunch and stayed active until dinner time, I felt very dizzy.

Especially when I was going home from outside, I felt dizzy and tired because it was cold, so I ate porridge and New Care as soon as I got home. But I was glad I slept well.

Day 13 (3/19)

A lot of the swelling has gone down! On this day, I went to a cafe, studied, and walked around.

Day 15 (3/21)

After two weeks and a day later, I went to the hospital and had the stitches removed!

Just like the actual review, it hurt so much that I criedโ€ฆ Some people say it hurts more than surgery, but it really hurts.

After the stitches were removed, I received a laser treatment for swelling and had a photo taken. The manager told me that since there was still swelling, I needed to use warm compresses and relieve heat.

They said there was a big difference between doing it and not doing it.. I reflected on myself for not working hard.

<Week 3-4>

It looks like I still have some swelling in my cheeks, so I'm being careful when I eat!

I mainly ate soft porridge and didn't eat anything hard. Around this time, I met a friend and I was complimented on how pretty I looked, so I was happy haha.

I go for walks and move around freely, and I always cover my mouth when I laugh, but I can smile brightly without worrying about it, and I really like that.

About a week after the surgery, it was so difficult that I wondered if the surgery was for no reason, or if I should have endured the pain and not even been able to eat.

I have felt regrets and worries, but perhaps humans are creatures of adaptation, so I am very satisfied with the present!!

I'm happy because as the day and week goes by, I see the swelling go down faster and I look prettier haha.

I'm wearing makeup and moving around freely! It definitely seems like the swelling goes down better when I go for a walk and go outside.

However, I still have a stuffy nose, so I am spraying Otrivin. Also, the lines on my face are changing as time goes by!

<2nd month>

In the first month, it was still difficult to open my mouth, the swelling was still there, and the weather was cold so I couldn't go for walks often, so my face was puffy.

Now that it's been two months, it's easier to open my mouth, and the weather is so warm and nice that I'm moving around a lot outside and exercising, so I think a lot of the swelling has gone down!!

When I eat food, I eat hard things well now and meat well too. haha.

But they said you shouldn't eat like this,,? So be careful!

After the surgery, does it feel like your face has become younger than your chubby face?

And when I meet friends or strangers after a long time, I don't know how bad things are.

I'm more satisfied because everyone thinks this face is the same haha. It means that the surgery was successful with no side effects!!

<3rd month>

Three months is definitely a lot more than just one or two months!! I think the swelling has gone down.

Now that it's been 3 months, my overall facial expression has become more natural and the muscles around my mouth seem to have relaxed a lot.

I donโ€™t think there are any inconveniences in everyday life! I think washing and brushing my teeth are all easy haha.

I try to avoid foods that are too hard and eat a regular diet.

My face has become much more natural overall, and  my friends have all commented that I did a good job and that I look prettier!

A friend I haven't seen in a while found out because I told him that it felt like something had changed haha.

I was really wondering when the swelling would go down after only a month or two, but time really is a waste!!

And since the weather is nice, the more I walk, the better it is for reducing swelling haha.

I'm really happy that my face has become noticeably smaller than before the surgery. My face usually gets swollen, but the size of my face has gotten smaller, so even when it's swollen, it still looks small! Haha.

It was very difficult right after the surgery, but these are happy days. Are humans creatures of forgetfulness? Anyway, I am happy thinking about my face getting smaller for a year.
