제목 Realistic Double Jaw Surgery Review: 6 Months Post-Surgery Why Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

<Before Surgery>

Hello!

Time has flown by, and it’s already been six months since my double jaw surgery. Since elementary school, I was diagnosed with malocclusion, and my tongue was always positioned behind my lower teeth. I thought it was normal because it didn’t feel wrong, but it wasn’t. I also had slight asymmetry and an underbite since childhood, which caused significant stress during my school years. That’s why I decided to have double jaw surgery and contouring surgery (cheekbones, jawline, and chin) at W Dental Clinic.

<1 Month Post-Surgery>

Up until the two-week mark, I was counting down the days, eagerly waiting for a month to pass. But with work and daily life, time flew by. The battle with swelling was real; I read many reviews saying walking helps, so I walked a lot, but the effect was minimal. However, applying warm compresses made a significant difference. Drink plenty of water too! At my one-month check-up, Dr. Lee Seok-jae told me everything looked good and commented that my fierce look had softened, which made me happy.

I was still experiencing numbness in my lower jaw due to the swelling, but Dr. Lee reassured me it was normal. I was also undergoing pre-orthodontic treatment, and the orthodontist meticulously adjusted my braces. They removed four screws from my front teeth, which made things much more comfortable. Now I can eat rice and finely chopped meat.

<3 Months Post-Surgery>

At the one-month mark, I could only fit one and a half fingers in my mouth, and chewing was still difficult. By the second and third months, things improved significantly! I could fit two and a half fingers in my mouth, and the swelling had noticeably decreased. I used to wake up with a swollen face every morning, but that has gradually lessened over time. Remember, time heals all! The swelling can vary depending on your face’s condition. Some days my face looked slim, and other days it seemed a bit puffier.

<6 Months Post-Surgery>

Now that it’s been six months, the memories of the surgery and the difficult times have faded. By two to three months post-surgery, I was back to my pre-surgery daily life and feeling happy! Friends who haven’t seen me in a while commented on how much weight I’ve lost and how good I look. I can eat almost everything and do all levels of exercise.

Most of the major swelling was gone by three months, but even up to five or six months, I noticed slight improvements. If you’ve had the surgery, be patient and wait for the final results! My face looks slimmer, and even though I gained back 2-3 kg, my face remains much smaller.

Dr. Lee Seok-jae confirmed that my bones have healed well and that I could even start laser treatments. Comparing the before and after photos, my facial asymmetry has completely improved. My friends might not notice the changes, but the parts that stressed me out are completely resolved. If I could go back in time, I would definitely choose to do the surgery again, and I might even do it sooner.

For those of you considering the surgery, I recommend doing it sooner rather than later to enjoy your improved look for longer.

I’m also getting dental implants at another clinic, and the dentist there praised the excellent results of my surgery. Dr. Lee Seok-jae’s expertise is evident, and I’m grateful I chose WHY Oral&Maxillofacial surgery.
