제목 My Satisfied Double Jaw Surgery Review Why Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

<Before Surgery>

Since childhood, I had an underdeveloped upper jaw, causing an underbite. I consulted with three orthodontists, all of whom recommended surgery, so I waited until adulthood. After discovering WHY Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, I decided to consult with them. I had consultations with other clinics as well, but WHY stood out because their prices were reasonable, and they did not push unnecessary procedures. Eventually, I decided to undergo surgery at WHY. I had double jaw surgery along with contouring of the front and square jaw, following the sequence of orthodontics first, then surgery.

Day 1 of Surgery

Before the surgery, I met with the director and the head of the department, who explained the procedure to me. Even during the initial consultation, I appreciated the director’s realistic and necessary advice, which made me trust him even more as I went into surgery. After the surgery, the director visited my room to check my condition and explain the postoperative care. My mother arrived late, but both the director and the head of the department kindly explained the surgery to her, which she found very reassuring and touching. The live CCTV allowed my sister to watch the surgery and see the director’s swift and skillful technique, which reassured us all and allowed me to focus solely on recovery.

Day 2 of Surgery

On the second day, after the catheter and drain tubes were removed, I felt somewhat better. Although the facial pain decreased, the swelling began to intensify. On this day, I learned how to use the wafer. I was encouraged to walk around the hospital as much as possible, so I walked for about 10 minutes every hour, which I found beneficial for my recovery. Personally, I found a sauce container from Daiso very useful for drinking water and recommend it to anyone undergoing similar surgery. The director frequently checked on me and provided detailed explanations to my family, which helped them feel secure in their caregiving roles.

Post-Discharge Life

Before discharge, the director conducted a final check and provided instructions for home care. For the first five days after discharge, my face was very swollen, and I had to sleep sitting up. I could only consume liquid foods, but I ensured I walked for at least 30 minutes daily to reduce swelling. Up until the sixth day, I had some regrets, but from the seventh day onward, as my condition improved and the swelling subsided, I felt increasingly confident that I made the right decision. By the second week, my family praised the results, and I felt genuinely happy looking in the mirror.

One Month Post-Surgery

During my one-month follow-up, the director noted that about 40-50% of the swelling had subsided. Over time, speaking became easier, and my facial muscles felt more mobile. I could start eating soft foods and continued daily exercises for jaw mobility, including exaggerated vowel pronunciations and warm compresses before bed.

Two Months Post-Surgery

Now, at two months post-surgery, the swelling has almost completely subsided, to the point where new acquaintances wouldn’t know I had surgery. My eyes appear larger, and my nose seems more prominent as the swelling decreases. While I still find it challenging to eat very hard foods, my chewing ability has improved significantly compared to the first month. I can exercise without any issues and feel about 90% back to my pre-surgery condition.

Even after accidentally injuring my jaw, the clinic provided excellent care and reassurance.

Throughout my recovery, I never regretted having the surgery at WHY; in fact, I am convinced it was worth every penny. I no longer feel stressed when looking in the mirror and am more confident in social settings.

For anyone struggling with an underbite like I was, I highly recommend seeking a consultation.
