제목 Now I wear a ponytail too Why Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

<Before surgery>

hello! It's my first time writing a plastic surgery review, but I'm trying to write it to help those who will receive it in the future.

I received an orthodontic consultation for the first time at the Department of Orthodontics 6 years ago due to an open bite + long chin + protruding chin.

Two-jaw surgery was recommended, saying that there is a high probability of recurrence if corrected with orthodontic treatment, and there is a high possibility of looking like a joint.

At that time, I was young and it was a major surgery, so I was worried about it, but at the end of last year, I thought about getting a consultation at a specialized hospital.

While looking for a hospital, I came across Y Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, which I was watching on YouTube. As an oral and maxillofacial surgeon,

It was amazing that the second generation specialized in only one field, and the biggest reason that led me to this place was that there was a YouTube video about orthognathic surgery.

Director Lee Seok-jae said that not everyone can become pretty. I decided to do it because I thought that it was not a place that forced even patients who did not need surgery for money-making or beauty purposes. There were too many stimulating comments on YouTube from other directors,,

Since the purpose of my first surgery was to solve an open occlusion, I received counseling focusing on functional problems. (To put it simply, for those who don't know, I can't use my front teeth because my upper and lower front teeth are wide open.)

During the consultation, I received a confirmation that it was a two-jaw surgery case, and when I actually heard it, I was a little shaken, but I didn't even force it!

Rather, he told me to think more if I was worried, and the manager kindly adjusted the schedule to me (I'm a local, so I'm far away)

I set a date on the day of the consultation, had a pre-surgery model, blood test, etc. and came down.

I visited the hospital one more time for wafer alignment and design consultation before surgery, and decided to receive two jaw surgery + contouring surgery to improve the long chin.

The director said that the square jaw was only slightly trimmed, but it was nice to feel that he wasn't trying to overdo it.

On the day of the surgery on March 2nd, I received the design explanation for the last time, recovered, took pictures, and waited for a while.

The recovery room was a single room, and I was satisfied with how clean it was. After a while, I went into the operating room, slept for a while, and when I woke up, I was lying in the recovery room.

They said I had to stay awake until 8:00 PM, but I was so sleepy that it was very difficult.

My younger brother, who came as a guardian, kept waking me up, but I fell asleep like crazy, so I have to wake up..!!

The pain was felt for a short time in the middle of the hectic when I came to the recovery room, and it was fine after an hour or two.

However, the pain was not the problem. If you really get this surgery, you will feel that your nose is very precious.

My nose was completely swollen and blocked, and my throat was intubated and removed, so I was swollen and couldn't swallow my saliva.

I kept coughing up phlegm because it was itchy, and at that time, my younger brother whined and whined that I would not have surgery, so he asked me to go back to before.

I don't remember,, I'm the type to tolerate pain well, but wow.

Still, the nurse teacher came in from time to time and told me that frequent suction would only stimulate me more and make me uncomfortable, so I endured it as much as I could and only called the teacher to give me suction when I really thought I was going to die.

The nurses must have been bothersome, but I was very moved by the fact that they always took care of me kindly.

In the morning and evening, the director also came to the rounds to explain the condition and reassure me. I think it was helpful because he continued to explain that he would feel bad even when he gave me antibiotics through a sap line.

The next day, when I removed the tube in my nose and the blood bag in my mouth, I was able to breathe about 20%... and it was so refreshing.

It's not completely pierced yet, but the number of suctions has decreased and I'm a little relieved to think that I'm alive.

In fact, what should I do to pass the time while being hospitalized for 2 nights and 3 days before surgery?? I was doing it, but I have no mind to do anything, and if I struggle to breathe, I will be discharged from the hospital.

I couldn't even look at my cell phone, and I sat and slept, and the nurses came in to give me medicine and check my condition, so I couldn't sleep well, so I think I was dozing off all day.

Oh, he said that moving the next day helps the swelling go down the most, so when I got some breath in the evening, I walked back and forth toward the hospital lobby for about 40 minutes!

On the last day, I took a picture and listened to the director's explanation, and from the picture, it looks almost the same to me (something like bone measurements?), but in reality, the difference in the face was so amazing, and he said that the surgery went well, so I was relieved and discharged! (Discharged on March 4th)

While I was in the hospital, I ate two bottles of water + New Care (protein drink).

I kept trying to swallow the sore throat pain, so I still swallowed the type of water, so when I came home, I ate 2 Selex (protein drinks).

Luckily, the focus was on 'I want to breathe', so I didn't feel hungry. I was able to walk for about 40 minutes a day on Saturday and Sunday.

I wanted to do more, but it was difficult to breathe + nutrient supplementation, so I only did about 40 minutes without overdoing it.

And the prescribed pills are too big and too many ㅠㅠ I have a hard time again, it seems it took me about 15 minutes just to take the pills.. ㅠㅠ

And after being discharged from the hospital, it swelled up more and more day by day, but I heard an explanation, but I was afraid because it continued to swell, and I was afraid because I couldn't visit the hospital right away because I was fat. could

In particular, I was very moved by the fact that the head of the department in charge immediately checked the photo even though I was unable to go to the hospital.

It was the first treatment day a week later on March 8th, so I visited and disinfected it and was told that there was no inflammation, so I was relieved to receive swelling care and came down well!

He told me to exercise my mouth, so I'm trying to express myself in words as much as possible.

I still have to sit down to sleep, so it's uncomfortable (if I lie down, my nose gets stuffy right away), but I'm trying to get rid of the swelling quickly by increasing the walk to about 2 hours a day.

It's been a week now, so I don't have too much greed for swelling on my face, and I want to lie down and sleep comfortably.

By the way, I'm going to the hospital by plane!! There seems to be no problem at all about getting on a plane (the director also said that you can get on)

and!

Between the 1st and 2nd weeks (March 9-15) - Selex (protein drink) I took 2 breakfasts and 2 lunches, and I boiled instant soup for lunch and ate it together.

For dinner, I ate all kinds of porridges that were completely mixed from main porridge, one per day.

I took a vacation until the 17th, so I had a lot of time, so I took a walk every day for an hour for lunch and an hour for dinner.

Even on a difficult day, I came in after at least an hour. They said it was the best for reducing swelling.

I didn't wear it all day, I wore it for about 3 to 4 hours when taking a walk or when I was at home, wearing it for an hour, taking a break, and then wearing it again.

The bruise on his chin is gradually descending to his collarbone, and the swelling is still plump.

It's fine when I'm active during the day, but when I sleep at night, my nose is still blocked, so I slept sitting down. Wafer was worn at all times except when eating or brushing teeth.

I feel a strong tingling sensation in my mouth when I move my mouth because of the stitches.

2nd to 4th week (16th to 30th)  - I visited the hospital on the 16th to have stitches removed. The cheek side is tolerable, but the anterior stitches are tearing.

I think it would be nice to know that it hurts a lot and go.

I even received swelling care, finally!!! I am so very happy to hear that you can eat soft food.

As soon as I came down from the province, I immediately ran to Twosome and went to a Chinese restaurant with 3 pieces of cake and ordered jajangmyeon, cut it into pieces with scissors and ate it with a spoon,,ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

Now, even if I brush my teeth or move my mouth, my mouth doesn't crave too much.

After that, I continued to walk for 2 hours every day, and I went to see my acquaintances once, and they were completely amazed and complimented me that the surgery went well, saying that the profile (the line connecting the nose, lips, and chin) was like a knife!

He said that the image has become rounder and looks milder, so I was happy too.

And I practiced opening my mouth and making the shape of my mouth from time to time.

I practiced opening my mouth a lot, so I got 2 fingers in before the 4th week!

And since I lost a lot of weight, I deliberately ate a lot of high-calorie snacks, such as ice cream, moncher, and donuts (until now).

After the 2nd week, I mainly ate ramen, cake, and bread, and I drank one Selex whenever I thought of it.

Oh, right after the 2nd week, my nose got pierced, so I was able to lie down and sleep. I got the stitches out and returned to work the next day, but there was no problem with my work!

(Job that talks a lot) And on the 4th week, I attached the maxillary braces, and the director of the Orthodontics Department was so kind, so it was nice.

(Ah! I did it at Ygugang, but there is also a dentist there, so you can get a post-correction at once!)

I had experience with partial correction in the past, so I think I was treated without much worry.

There is no pain so far haha Most of all, I was relieved to not have to wear wafers anymore.

The manager said it was OK to eat pizza, so I tried pizza once for dinner that evening, but it was too much to eat as it didn't fit the occlusion yet.

I ate it little by little.

I'm glad I could chew a little.

It's about 4 weeks, and the heavy swelling seems to have gone down a lot,

I definitely take care of it a lot, so I don't think there's much swelling, but I like it because it looks younger!

It's already been 3 months !

Something I'm feeling these days...

I had an open bite before the surgery, and I couldn't stop eating when I was eating outside because my front teeth and canines didn't reach up and down at all.

So I always used scissors or cut it off with my molars, but I was so embarrassed to show it, so I always had a complex, and I didn't take pictures because I could see the shape of my jaw.

I can't use my front teeth because it's still in the early stages of orthodontics, but it's so amazing to see my occlusion that has changed in 3 months.

And when taking pictures, I no longer feel stressed and I can take pictures comfortably.

In the past, when I had to take a picture, I had to look pretty, cover my chin and take a picture, etc. I had this kind of compulsion, but after the surgery, the compulsion to look pretty disappeared, and I felt so comfortable and free from other people's gaze.

Also, speaking of chin surgery, Dr. Lee Seok-jae recommended a slightly rounded, natural jaw line, leaving my square jaw angle, so I underwent surgery like that.

If there is someone who is planning surgery, if you tell me the direction you want during consultation, it will be fully reflected, so it would be nice to bring a reference photo! I just did what you recommended

I'm trying to observe the sensory part with more time. I'm going to wait slowly because there's nothing inconvenient in my daily life.

That's all for today's review, and I'll come back with the next review.
