I’ve struggled with an underbite since childhood, facing teasing and a deep-seated complex because of it. I even tried orthodontics and a long chin surgery to fix it, but those only reduced the length without addressing the root issue—it didn’t help at all.
Looking back, I wish I had done double jaw surgery earlier, while I was younger and less prone to sagging. The time and money I spent feel like such a waste. It’s already been six months since the surgery, and here’s my update! 😊
I’m now living a normal life again. The first three months were tough with pain and difficulty opening my mouth, but now I can eat anything without restrictions. Aside from occasional jaw tightness when I’m tired, I hardly notice any issues.
I’m thrilled with the visible changes, and I can’t stop taking selfies! It feels like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders, and I’m so much happier now. I can sleep on my side comfortably and even enjoy eating meat again!
I did develop some post-surgery side effects, like nasolabial folds and a slight double chin, but I plan to address those with minor procedures—they don’t bother me much.
As for sensation, the doctor said it’s normal for it to return unevenly. My right side is almost fully back to normal, while my left side is still a bit numb. However, I feel it is improving steadily, so it’s not something I worry about in my daily life. Oh, but yawning makes my jaw ache a little—I’m being careful with that! 😂
I used to be so scared of the side effects and wondered when I’d be able to return to my daily routine.
Now, I wish I had done this sooner! The surgery turned out wonderfully, and I’m so glad I went through with it. 😊
