Before Surgery & Reason for Undergoing the Procedure
Whenever I took pictures, I was always bothered by my facial asymmetry and protruding jaw. It was also difficult to chew tough foods.
Since childhood, whenever I visited the dentist for orthodontic treatment, I was told that my case required double jaw surgery.
So, once my jaw growth had stopped, I started looking for hospitals for the procedure. I chose WHY Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery because the reviews were quite positive, and I decided to undergo double jaw surgery along with two facial contouring procedures (square jaw and chin surgery).
1-Month Post-Surgery
By the one-month mark, I was finally able to eat not just porridge but also foods like rice and chicken.
Being able to chew little by little made me feel incredibly happy! 😂
The swelling, especially in my cheeks, was still quite noticeable, but compared to right after surgery, my face had definitely shrunk, and I could see the difference in the mirror.
People also started saying that I looked much gentler than before, which was fascinating—just a change in my jawline made such a difference in my overall impression!
Interestingly, no one around me even noticed that I had surgery. When I eventually told them, they were shocked and said they had no idea, which was pretty funny.
I feel like once the remaining swelling subsides, my face will look even better. Seeing visible results so quickly makes time fly by, and I'm excited to see how my face and life continue to improve!
3-Months Post-Surgery
Now that the anesthesia in my facial muscles is gradually wearing off, I sometimes feel a tingling sensation.
I was told that continuously using my facial muscles would help with the recovery, so I see it as a good sign that sensation is returning.
The swelling has significantly gone down compared to a month ago, especially in my cheeks. The hospital also mentioned that it would continue to improve, so I’m looking forward to that.
As for eating, I can now chew almost anything without difficulty.
I can eat meat with no issues, and at this point, the surgery feels like a distant memory—I sometimes even forget that I had it!
Since I no longer have dietary restrictions, I’ve been eating a lot more than before, and food tastes even better.
I think I need to be mindful of overeating now! 😂
Although the recovery process was tough at first, looking back, I’m really glad I went through with the surgery. The results are truly satisfying.

Over Six Months Post-Surgery (Recent Update)
The swelling continues to subside! 😊
Maybe it’s because I’m still young, but when I look in the mirror, my face seems to have shrunk to about half the size it was right after surgery.
Now, I visit the dentist once a month for regular check-ups and preparations for orthodontic treatment. It feels good to be consistently monitored and taken care of.
However, one thing to keep in mind is that food tends to get stuck in the braces, so I have to be more careful about oral hygiene.
That said, paying more attention to my teeth has helped me develop a habit of better self-care, making me feel like I’m living a healthier life than before.
As my face gets smaller, I’m also gaining more confidence in my appearance.
I think undergoing the surgery at a younger age has helped my recovery be both faster and more natural-looking. 😊
I’m really curious to see how things will be once I reach the one-year mark!
I hope my review was helpful!
