<Before surgery>

This is my 3-month post-op update after double jaw and facial contouring surgery!
Ever since I was in middle school, dentists would always tell me that I was a candidate for double jaw surgery and that orthodontics alone wouldn’t be effective.
Even when I became a university student and considered getting braces, I was told that doing orthodontics alone might actually negatively affect the aesthetics of my face. So I kept putting it off while worrying about it. 😢
Then, while working at a university hospital, I came across a lot of different cases and started to think that maybe double jaw surgery isn't as scary or difficult as I had thought!
Of course, that doesn't mean it's an easy or simple procedure...
Anyway, after doing my research, I ended up getting surgery at WHY Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery this past June!
After the consultation, I decided to go with both double jaw surgery and two types of facial contouring.

I already posted about the day of the surgery and how the first three days went.
Since then, time has flown by, and the swelling has gone down so much that I hardly even remember what the surgery day felt like. I’m back to living my daily life comfortably. 😄
I work in a field where I talk to people a lot, and my pronunciation has improved significantly. The swelling has gone down so much that unless I bring it up first, most people don’t even realize I’ve had surgery. Haha.
Now that I’m in the post-surgical orthodontic phase, I can really feel my bite gradually aligning, which gives me a sense of emotional stability.
Right after the surgery, even though people told me it went well, my bite wasn’t aligned, so my pronunciation was off, and I honestly felt quite anxious.
But now, all of that worry is gone, and I can eat most foods without any issues. 😋

Also, I’ve been getting so many compliments from friends and people I meet at work, and it makes socializing feel so much more enjoyable. ☺️
Maybe it’s because I had both my square jaw and chin done, but my lower face looks sleeker and slimmer now. 😭
Hearing so many kind words and compliments really lifts my mood and makes me feel genuinely happy.
So I can honestly say — I’ve never once regretted getting the surgery. 😊
I still go in for orthodontic appointments once a month, and for the surgery follow-up, I saw Dr. Seokjae Lee during my 3-month check-up.
There were no issues, and he took the time to ask detailed questions about whether I was having any discomfort in daily life or if I had any concerns. I felt really grateful again after the appointment. So kind! 👍
