<1 Year After Surgery>
It’s already been almost a year since I had double jaw surgery.
Time has flown by so quickly—these days, I even forget that I had surgery because everything feels so natural and comfortable now.
Even the people around me can’t tell I had surgery unless I bring it up. My face has settled so naturally.

<Before Surgery>
I had braces once back in high school, but over time my jaw started to shift, my front teeth separated, and I began having pain in my TMJ (jaw joints).
Because of the asymmetry in my jaw, one side always looked more prominent when I smiled or took pictures. I used to get so stressed trying to find the right angle when taking selfies. 😭
At first, I considered getting braces again, but after visiting several clinics, I was told that in my case—with unequal jawbone lengths and severe asymmetry—braces alone wouldn’t be enough.
They all recommended double jaw surgery. 😭
In the end, I decided to go through with the surgery, including two types of facial contouring: square jaw and chin reshaping. 😊
Of course, right after surgery, I had swelling and felt a bit awkward, but as time went on, the results became more and more visible.
Especially between the 3rd and 6th month, the muscles around my mouth relaxed, my smile looked more natural, and my bite became much more stable.

<6 Months After Surgery>
It’s been 6 months since my double jaw surgery.
Even though I had braces in high school, my jaw started shifting afterward, and the gap between my front teeth returned. That’s when I started looking into options and decided on surgery.
As I got older, the asymmetry worsened, and my TMJ started giving me trouble.
In my case, since the length of my jawbones was different on both sides, surgery was the only real solution.
After consulting with about four oral and maxillofacial clinics, they all diagnosed me as a clear candidate for double jaw surgery.
I eventually had the procedure at WHY Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, including square jaw and chin contouring.

In the early recovery stages, my bite wasn’t perfectly aligned, so chewing was a bit uncomfortable.
But now, six months in, I can eat almost everything without any issues!
I avoid super tough foods like squid or chewy meats, but other than that, I can eat normally. :)

During recovery, I spent a lot of time doing light workouts at home, so my energy came back quickly, and I was able to return to work without a problem.
People I meet for the first time often say I have a small and pretty face—which always makes me think, "I'm so glad I did it!" 😊

Compared to the 3-month mark, my smile and facial muscles have become much more natural, and my bite has improved so much.
It really shows that time is the best healer.
My face is definitely smaller than before, and I have zero regrets.

<1-Year Update>

Now, one year later, my facial shape has changed a lot, and my bite is perfectly aligned!
People often comment on how much smaller my face looks, and I no longer feel stressed about taking selfies. 😊
I used to always hide my jaw or obsess over angles in photos, but now I don’t need to worry about any of that—and it feels amazing.
I was really scared and unsure before the surgery, but now I honestly wish I had done it sooner.
Yes, it’s a major surgery, and the recovery period takes time, but the results are absolutely worth it.
If you have issues like facial asymmetry or TMJ problems like I did, I really think this is something worth seriously considering.

For anyone thinking about double jaw surgery, I strongly recommend visiting several clinics for consultations and making a decision based on your unique condition.
I’m truly happy with my results and have no regrets.
The discomfort I had before surgery feels like a distant memory now.
And it’s true what they say—everything settles beautifully over time. 😊
