Hi there!
On May 23, 2024, I had double jaw surgery along with three-point facial contouring (cheekbones, jawline, and chin) at WHY Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, performed by Dr. Seokjae Lee.
At first, I thought I could fix everything with just orthodontic treatment.
I had braces for about three years because of a protruding mouth and malocclusion, and I hoped things would improve through that process.
And while the braces did help with the protrusion to some extent, I started to notice other issues more clearly—like my cheekbones, square jaw, and facial asymmetry.
At some point, I started avoiding mirrors… and even meeting people.
My self-esteem hit rock bottom, and I felt like my daily life was falling apart.
Eventually, I realized I couldn’t go on like this.
That’s when I decided to have surgery, and after several consultations, I chose WHY Oral.
I was extremely nervous on the day of surgery—but honestly, that just showed how much I wanted this change. 😢
Right after surgery, the swelling was intense and recovery wasn’t easy.
Since I had facial contouring at the same time, I had to live with quite a puffy face for a while. 😅

But little by little, the swelling went down, and eating became easier again.
By around the 6-month mark, I could eat most hard or chewy foods without much discomfort!

The feeling in my face has also come back a lot, and I continue to take care of myself with warm compresses during cold weather.
And now, it’s already been a year. Back then, it felt like time was crawling—but now I can’t believe how fast it all went by. I can eat whatever I want, and my daily life feels completely normal again. Best of all, every time I look in the mirror, I actually like what I see. And when people tell me things like “Your face looks so much smaller!” or “Your overall impression has improved so much,”

I genuinely feel like I made the right choice.
Each time I visited, the orthodontic team was always kind and thorough,
and the nurses took such great care of me throughout recovery—it made me feel very supported.
But above all, I’m endlessly grateful to Dr. Lee, who made all of this possible. 🙏
