<Before the surgery>
Hi everyone!
I started orthodontic treatment last summer at WHY Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and in February this year, I underwent double jaw surgery along with chin and jawline contouring. It's now been just over 3 months, and I’m currently in post-surgical orthodontics.
When I went back for my 1-month checkup, the doctor told me that swelling usually needs to be observed up to the 3-month mark — but for me, it actually went down faster than expected, and now I can go about my daily life without any worries!
<1-Month Review>

After the surgery, I got a lot of compliments from people around me saying my face looks shorter and much prettier!
One of the biggest changes I personally felt was with my side profile — I used to hate it when people took pictures from the side, but now I actually prefer side shots more than front-facing ones.
There are still some inconveniences, like the sensation not fully coming back yet, and I can only open my mouth about two to three fingers wide.

In the early days, the tingling sensation and dull numbness were really difficult to deal with, but things have improved a lot!
The doctor reassured me that as long as I’m gradually regaining feeling, it will fully return with time. So now I’m just focusing on doing warm compresses and mouth-opening exercises at home.
In terms of food, as long as it’s not super hard or chewy, I can eat pretty comfortably now — which has really improved my quality of life.
I lost about 5kg after surgery because I couldn’t eat properly for a while, and my energy levels dropped a lot. So these days, I’m doing my best to eat well and recover my strength.
Even now, I’m very satisfied — but knowing that more swelling will go down and my mouth shape will continue to improve makes me even more excited for what’s to come!
<3-Month Post-op>

It’s been 3 months after the double jaw surgery.
<Before the Surgery>
Although I had straight teeth from having braces as a child,
I had a severe underbite that caused me a lot of stress.
Whenever I took photos, I would try to hide my jaw as much as possible, and I absolutely refused to be photographed from the side

Eventually, on February 26th, I underwent double jaw surgery along with two types of contouring (jaw reduction and chin surgery) at WHY Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery,
and now I’m living a life I’m really satisfied with! Hahaha
For about a month after surgery, I couldn’t eat properly, and could barely open my mouth enough to fit a Baskin Robbins spoon.
Because of that, I ended up losing around 5kg

After the first month, I started to eat soft foods again,
and now I can eat most things comfortably,
except for foods that require strong biting or tearing with the front teeth! Haha
At first, I didn’t notice much of a difference because of the swelling,
but as time passed, I could definitely tell that things had changed!
Especially from the side, I could clearly see that my jaw had receded and my face had become shorter — I loved it.

People around me also said that since my lower face doesn’t stand out anymore, I look much prettier haha.
When I look at my pre-op photos now, all I see is my jaw... I honestly don’t even want to look at them these days.
As time passes, the swelling continues to go down and my expressions are becoming more natural,
so once the remaining numbness improves and my orthodontics are complete,
I think I’ll be even more satisfied with the result :)
