제목 1-Year Review After Double Jaw Surgery for Malocclusion! Why Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

<Before Surgery>

<After Surgery>

It’s been a year since my double jaw surgery.

I had a malocclusion, and after consulting several orthodontic clinics, I learned that braces alone wouldn’t fix my case. So, I underwent double jaw surgery + two-point contouring (square jaw + chin) at WHY Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.

It was a big decision, so I thought about it a lot. But Dr. Lee explained that if left untreated, I could later develop issues with digestion or jaw joint discomfort, which convinced me to go ahead with the surgery.

The first month after surgery was really tough — eating was difficult, and the swelling was intense, so I often felt exhausted.

However, with time, I gradually recovered.

By around the 3-month mark, most of the swelling had gone down, and by 6 months, aside from wearing braces, I felt almost no discomfort in daily life.

Now, at 1 year post-op, I only have a slight numbness on the right side of my jaw, but nothing bothersome.

Before surgery, I always felt my side profile looked awkward, so I used to hide my jaw whenever taking pictures.

But now, I can smile freely without worrying, and I genuinely enjoy seeing my photos.

People around me say I look better, but most of them assume I just lost some weight rather than having surgery.

Some of my female friends noticed subtle differences and said I look more refined 😄

The best part is hearing that I look even better after the surgery — it makes all the tough recovery days feel totally worth it.

 These days, chewing food feels much easier, and my orthodontic treatment is going smoothly, so I’m really satisfied.

Recently, I even got hit in the face by a ball while exercising, but there were no issues at all — it shows how stable the bones have become.

Now, I’m about to have my pin removal surgery, and I’m looking forward to completing the final step and officially “graduating” from double jaw surgery with a fully recovered, confident smile.
