제목 Are you curious about the nerve sensation after two jaws? Why Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

It was the chin that had been a complex since puberty started and I opened my eyes to make up my appearance. A long face that stands out even when viewed from the front, a long chin and a chin that stand out from the side, and malocclusion teeth that are visible. So I always wore blue hair and covered my face as much as possible. It makes people conscious too much. When talking about my appearance, I would naturally shy away and avoid the conversation even though it wasn't about my face.

After living with such a complex for 3n years, I happened to see a shorts video related to two jaw surgery. I received counseling around early spring of this year, and on October 4, I underwent surgery at the Y-October and Maxillofacial Surgery.

<Surgery Day_1004>

I was told to come by 10:00 am, so I arrived at the hospital a little early with my parents. After being guided to the single recovery room, I was relieved, unpacked, and saw the director, listened to the explanation about the surgery once again, went into the operating room, lay down on the operating table, and finally blacked out with a soft voice saying 'take a deep breath'.

When I woke up, I was taken to the recovery room and the nurses were waking me up (I guess I didn't wake up well haha;)

When I was told to take a deep breath, I held my parents' hands and focused only on breathing. It was pretty good than I thought. It wasn't that there was no pain, but it wasn't so painful, and the nurses praised me for breathing well and relaxing my body. Yes, just up until this point. There was something I overlooked. That my throat isn't swollen yet. At 7:00 PM, my parents went back to the lodging, and by the dawn of the first day and the second day, my throat was swollen and it was so hard to breathe. I was a little bit scared. From that point on, I called the nurse and harassed her a lot. (Even now, I am very sorry and grateful to the nurses on duty at that time.) I waited for morning to come so quickly.

<Day 2_1005>

As soon as morning came, I thought I would remove the urine tube, the hose in my nose, and the blood tube, but I was frustrated (...) when the representative director said that I had to wear it a little more to remove the blood tube. I really wanted to get rid of the pain because it was so frustrating. He allowed me to receive boogie care until I woke up, but I think I really slept well during that time. And as soon as the director comes, he removes the pain and pulls his lower teeth all the way to fit the wafer to make him feel refreshed for a while. It's groaning and it's hard to breathe because it's blocked ㅠㅠ

From this time on, they give me New Care and gargle and give me a mission to drink and gargle. Instead, it was fine again during the day, so when there weren't many people, I took a little walk in the hallway. But the dawn of the second day to the third,

(Symptoms definitely get worse in the early morning.) When my head lay down a little more, my nose got more stuffy, so I sat down, went to bed, and woke up repeatedly. If I sit down for an hour, I move little by little or watch YouTube while applying cold compresses for an hour.

<The third day_1006>

However, I felt pretty good because I slept a little more than before. As soon as I woke up, I succeeded in drinking New Care and gargling. Has 30 minutes passed instead? After a while, I coughed up a little bit of vomiting and coughed up phlegm (..) I was so surprised that I called a nurse, and she comforted me by saying that the cough that came out naturally was okay, but instead told me to drink a lot of lukewarm water. After drinking a glass of water and calming down to some extent, I prepared for discharge. After seeing the director again and getting the medicine prescribed at the pharmacy, I went to the Airbnb accommodation. As soon as I arrived, after drinking lukewarm water and drinking New Care for lunch, it was finally time to take medicine. I swallow the medicine with the feeling that please don't cough even if it gets stuck in my throat, huh? It went so smoothly that I was relieved, but I was a little embarrassed. Ohhh (I was very scared.) And after taking a break, I drank New Care for dinner and then started taking medicine again. The day ended like this.

<Day 4_1007>

I don't know about the face, but I felt that my mouth was constantly swelling, so it was hard to even bite the wafer. In addition, it was painful because the boiling cough that continued to phlegm came out.

I went for a walk in the morning, but it seems that it took me 20 minutes to travel a distance of 6 minutes.

I was dizzy after going there, so I ate a New Care and went to sleep again..

I couldn't stand the thick mucus + blood on the outside of my nostrils, so I gently peeled off the outside, and I felt like I was going to live with my nose pierced for a while. Later, I left it alone, but the gurgling sound was a little less. After drinking New Care + Orange Juice for lunch and taking medicine, I went for a second walk to the beauty salon to wash my hair. It felt like living a little.

Instead, it feels like the lower lip, lower teeth and chin are heavier and more painful than in the morning? I slept again with a cold compress, woke up, took my medicine in the evening, and the day ended again.

<The fifth day_1008>

In the morning, I was in good shape, so I took a longer walk, but after that, my condition went down _ down _ down... On this day, I couldn't do anything and just rested at the dorm..

<The 6th Day_1009>

Much better condition than yesterday. I still have a bit of toothache every time I bite a wafer, but it's much better than before, and my nose is completely open, so it's easy to breathe, so it was a comfortable day.

And I decided to increase the meal = 1 New Care + 1 juice to 2 New Care + 1 juice + Soongnyung so that I could gain more strength.

<The 7th Day_1010>

One meal of New Care = You have to eat two to live. I increased the amount I ate a little more and slept soundly all day, so I'm in the best condition in recent times!! There was a rain sign, but it hardly rained, so I took a walk that I couldn't take yesterday. On the way back to the lodging, I was so hungry for the soup because it was cold, so I packed a bowl of kalguksu with only the soup. It was clam soup, but wow... My eyes and ears opened. As expected (but even this is salty and not good, so he told me to be patient, so I couldn't drink it anymore.. ㅠㅠ)

The cough is still there, but it feels a little less than before. It was the most memorable day in many ways.

<The 8th day_1011-1st visit>

at las. at las! The day I go to the hospital!! Oh my God, I can't wait for the day I go to the hospital... After visiting the hospital, I had to go back to my hometown, so I packed up all my belongings and headed to the hospital.

Before that, I was constantly coughing up phlegm, so I was worried about what to do if something else happened, but as soon as I saw the director's face, I was immediately relieved. Fortunately, I was relieved twice to hear that there was no inflammation, and I was embarrassed twice as what I ate remained on the wafer even though I was told to gargle hard instead. haha

I was excited for nothing when I heard that I could now brush my teeth without a wafer.

As soon as I return to my parents' house in my hometown, I drink New Care and protein drinks and take out wafers for brushing my teeth. It's okay ㅠㅠ How happy I was to be able to get rid of you for a moment ㅠㅠ And how long ago did I feel the toothpaste ㅠㅠ Everything just made me feel happy and thankful ㅠㅠ It was such a day ㅠㅠ

<1017_Second Visit>

Finally, the day to pull out the stitches has come!! (Impressed_tears)

My parents say that I have lost a lot of swelling every time I see it, and since I was able to talk to some extent, I went to a cafe before the hospital, bought a juice, drank it, and headed to the hospital. (Before that, I was worried about swelling and couldn't talk much, so I never went to a cafe. ;) Before removing the stitches, I received the swelling care first, and then I met the director to get the stitches out. Contrary to the director's words that it would be painful, the more I went to the middle, the more it hurt. Also, the inside of my lower lip was torn, but it hurt twice as much because it was pressed.

And... a month later!

Looking at the reviews of people who had surgery much longer than me and have already been 3 months or more, I thought of stars such as 'When am I going to be a month old', 'I want to remove the wafer quickly', 'What if the bone isn't attached properly', etc. I heard it .. (nose _ embarrassed)

After pulling out the thread on my second visit, I was a little scared because I felt a bone pain that I hadn't felt before while feeling refreshed. Every time I open my mouth to eat rice (porridge) or to brush my teeth, I want to open my mouth a little wider. Along with the stiffness of the bones, I get a feeling that something like a fixing pin stuck inside is rattling, so maybe something is wrong with the bones sticking, recovery I thought of what to do if I can't return to work next month because it's slow (;-;)

But whenever I thought of it, I did jaw exercises, so after a few days, even that was pretty good, so I thought it was fortunate.

So from this point on, I deliberately read books aloud to talk more, met a lot of people around me, and went on a trip alone to a place not far away to get some fresh air! (At first, my parents scolded me for going alone(...))

There were still a lot of restrictions on what to eat, but even though I was still wearing wafers, just the fact that the stitches were removed was enough to make my gums and mouth feel refreshed.

After spending such a carefree daily life, finally! Ah, the one-month-a-waited visit!!!!

Since I live in a rural area, it is difficult to visit the hospital every week, so I decided to visit the hospital on the 1st month and undergo orthodontic treatment with a bone photo shoot. Fortunately, after the photo shoot, Dr. Lee Seok-jae said that it looked fine, and at the same time gave a word of relief and at the same time advised that the bones were not completely attached, so be careful. And it's time for exciting teeth straightening!

I was very scared (...) but the orthodontist who explained it for the first time was so gentle and kind, A2Zㅣbefore I had any questions, I gradually felt relieved. also gradually decreased. (I'm really afraid of the dentist. Just thinking about the dentist gives me goose bumps and I'm scared to the point where I feel like my gums are getting cold for no reason, but I'm starting to think that the dentist is a friendly place here too haha thank you (bow) )

After the correction, I was grateful for the detailed information from the toothbrush method to precautions.

(I only put braces on the upper teeth first. I decided to put the braces on the lower teeth next week!)

It's been a day since I had my braces on..

So far, I have not had any major pain in my teeth/gums. It's just that it's strange that the braces touch the inside of the lips covering the teeth? No major discomfort so far.

I really feel like living. I didn't pass the porridge, steamed egg, or tofu, but chewed it gently and passed it, so I cried (big ;-;)

<About damaged nerve sensation>

The other day, after posting a review of the 2nd week, there was someone who asked me to write in more detail about the damaged neurosensory part, so I'm going to write it down in case others are curious.

Even when you first came out of surgery, the outer part of the skin? I could feel some of the sensations on the outside. When I was hospitalized, even when I drank water, I felt like 'Oh, I spilled water' and wiped it off? Instead, the gums, the teeth including the roof of the mouth, the upper jaw and lower teeth, as well as the area around the nostrils and cheeks just below the cheekbones, are really covered with dry tree bark, and it seems that a sponge with holes is inserted into the face instead of the bone.. (It's not over, it really I mean, it was like this ;_;) But from the night of the surgery, from the lower jaw part, it was very tingly? Tickling tickling? Then, while I was sleeping, I felt a tingling sensation in my front teeth, so I woke up in surprise. I remember that these feelings were tremendous for about a week. Even after that, there is a feeling that my senses are returning, but it's not to the extent that my body is tickling (...this part is not over, it was really so itchy that my body was tickling ;_;), but 'Who tickled me with a feather?' degree. But, especially as the sun goes down, I feel better. It seems to get weaker and weaker as time goes on. I still feel like I'm coming back even now as I'm writing a review, but it feels very, very weak. Around the nose and cheeks, if you touch it with your hand, you can feel the sensation of your hand to some extent. When I touch the roof of my mouth with my tongue, I feel that my tongue is touching the roof of my mouth. Um... I think it's back to about 50%. Maybe it's because I neglected the warm compress (...unconditionally, everyone, do your best. It's unconditional) When two fingers are placed vertically, there is no free space and about 1/3 of the fingers go in? Still, the feeling of moving the joints or the feeling of being caught by tweezers like the last time has disappeared.

I wrote a review because it was a little helpful to those who are preparing for or interested in orthognathic surgery, or to those who have just had surgery, so the article is unintentionally long (;-;) Thank you for reading the long article. Those who are scheduled for surgery, those who have undergone surgery, and those who have not undergone surgery but have read this, I hope you have a healthy and beautiful day :-)
